Sotheby’s

New York, NY | OMA-Office for Metropolitan Architecture | Beyer Blinder Belle

The renovation of the galleries at this prominent NYC auction house began with a clear objective: to develop a more efficient lighting system that would allow for maximum flexibility. The client operates the facility like a retail space, with short exhibitions and fast turnarounds, which required a user-friendly and easily adaptable lighting solution. A specific track system was ultimately selected to provide fixtures that would enable the client to improve the way they feature their sales. Controls were also introduced into the project’s scope to streamline the client’s need to manipulate lighting for a retail space in constant flux.
