The landmarked façade of this fashion designer’s NY headquarters was given a unique nighttime presence through fuchsia LED uplighting of the white translucent shades. The project’s diverse program is unified through a singular gesture: a stairway that collects and distributes light from the roof through to the deepest interior parts of the building. This shaft of light is conceived of as an inhabitable and connective “stairdelier” - a cross between a stair and chandelier. The “stairdelier” is created through the dramatic illumination of hundreds of triagular prism shaped crystals with 5,000K continuous LED grazer lighting to simulate daylight.
