Barclays Center

Brooklyn, NY | SHoP Architects

Integrated into one of the busiest urban intersections in the NY metro area, the Barclays Center sustains a healthy, interactive dialogue with the surrounding streets and neighborhood. The plaza lighting concept features custom LED paver lights, in a random pattern, organized to be denser where people are most likely to gather. The Corten-steel facade is indirectly illuminated with a staggered pattern of RGB LED strip. The civic gesture of the arena is heightened by a spectacular 30’ high canopy containing an oculus that frames the view of the arena. Barclays Center, which opened in September 2012, has 101 luxury suites, four bars/lounges, four clubs, and the 40/40 Club & Restaurant by American Express.
