The Istanbul EDITION, debuted as the brand’s first European hotel although now closed, it was located within the vibrant Levent district. Through the transformation of traditional Turkish materials and finishes and executed with contemporary considerations, Gabellini Sheppard created an immersive hospitality environment, providing guests with an exotic, customized lifestyle experience unique to Istanbul. Tillotson Design Associates worked on the initial designs and full scale on site mockups for this 77-key hotel in collaboration with Gabellini Sheppard Associates to establish a series of bespoke lighting strategies and concepts. Indirect coves and feature and decorative lighting elements reveal the elegant furnishings and create the luxurious ambiance for which the brand is known. The guestrooms are wrapped in warm, exotic woods, peened bronze pendant lights serve as markers and ambient light at each nightstand.  Indirect cove lighting in the bathrooms was carefully calibrated to provide a luminous glow and when combined with the grazing cove lighting at the window enough soft illumination for the entire room.
