The 68,000 square foot flagship store in New York City is organized behind a veil of textured, slumped glass relies heavily on digital services synchronized to the customer to inform its merchandising and physical organization. With these ever-fluctuating conditions, the lighting is designed in a flexible and efficient manner to cope with the seemingly infinite possible store arrangements dictated by seasonal events, temporary installations, and product trends. A stem-mounted, single-circuit track is consistently deployed throughout as the primary lighting system for maximum coverage and optimal aiming angles to properly feature merchandise without creating glare or visual discomfort. Two types of track heads are utilized to meet the variety of potential lighting needs: a spotlight with 10°-30° zooming optical range that allows for quick refocusing and a clean body framing projector that adds a layer of drama by highlighting prominent signage and installations.
Onboard potentiometers facilitate easy adjustments to light levels. The architectural lighting complements a variety of digital signage components where screens are often mounted behind mirrored panels. Fitting rooms are fully outfitted with color tunable fixtures allowing customers to try on merchandise in a variety of simulated work-out environments prior to completing a purchase. The bespoke façade adds a level of intrigue as it simultaneously unifies and distorts the contrasting retail spaces beyond. A discreet system of accent lights is installed at the perimeter circulation zone behind the glass to reveal the inner workings of the store and to showcase the activity of patrons as they transition through each unique shopping experience.
