Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management
Evanston, IL | KPMB Architects
The architectural lighting elevates the design concept of “structure in motion” by emphasizing the undulating exterior wood soffits and creating a rhythm of lighting systems unique to the specific program of each space type. The interior lighting provides a warm, residential quality by accentuating the palette of rich architectural stone and wood finishes throughout. The subtle uplighting of the exterior blends within the context of the larger campus and extends the view out towards the neighboring Great Lake. Perimeter cove lighting all along the atrium core helps create the boundaries for the larger room. Adjustable downlights are organized within slots and provide ambient light for gathering as well as flexible lighting for speakers and events.
